Playing with Korry

Lisa spent most of the day playing with Korry. Korry lives in one of the houses nearby and also goes to the International School. Lisa calls her 'that girl who is ten'.

Also, today was my last day in the employ of Havant College!

Our new Jeep

Big news today...we bought a car. It's a Suzuki Jeep Samurai. It's great for getting up the big hill to our house, and bumping along Seychelles roads. We celebrated with a trip to the beach.

Wednesday Bazaar

Every wednesday there is a Bazaar (market - mostly food) just behind Beau Vallon beach. We bought our dinner there and sat and ate it on the beach. Karen had a whole grilled fish with rice and I had octopus curry!
Dinner on the beach....
Oh yeh, and school started today. No kids, just some meetings and sorting stuff out.

Ghost Crab

We have been meeting some of the local wildlife. These Ghost Crabs dig burrows in the sand on the beach and scuttle in and out looking for food.

Balcony Living

Our house is great. It's very nice to have moved in and have our own place. We tend to spend most of our time on the balcony looking out over the Indian Ocean.....

Move to Beau Vallon

Today we moved to our new house in Beau Vallon. Beau Vallon is a small community based around the long, sandy Beau Vallon beach. There are a few shops, bank, petrol station, couple of pubs and resturants. Our house is up a steep hill behind the beach. The school is in Victoria which can be seen in the distance over the hill.
This is our house! Big veranda, kitchen/diner/living room, two bedrooms, two bathrooms. Our car (when we get one) will go where those two mini mokes are.

The Seychelles?

The Seychelles is a group of small islands spread over a large area, just north of Madagascar, off the East coast of Africa. The main island, where we will be is called Mahe. Mahe is about the size of the Isle of Wight. The International School is in the capital city Victoria. The population of the Seychelles is about 70,000

Chillin on the Beach

Making the most of the beach while the holiday lasts at the Plantation Club Hotel. This hotel is apparently famous for hosting the 1997 Miss World contest!

The Plantation Club

The house we will be living in wasn't ready when we arrived in the Seychelles, so the school put us up in the luxury Plantation Hotel.
Karen and Lisa on the beach at the Plantation Hotel. Our first afternoon in the Seychelles. Me and Lisa checking out the pool. That is a top way to recover from a 10 hour flight!

At the Airport

Karen, Mum, Dad, Me and Lisa at Heathrow Airport, just before we checked in our (massively overweight!) baggage for our flight to the Seychelles.
