Rain Rain Rain

It's not always sunny in the Seychelles, and when it rains it really rains!

Playing on the Beach

As usual we stopped at the beach on the way home from school. Lisa likes playing with the other kids on the beach. Here they are collecting fan shells.

Drag Fishing

On sunday evening we watched a group of fisherman drag net fishing from Beau Vallon beach. They row a long net out into the sea and pull in each end, hopefully catching a few fish in the trap.
They sell the fish directly to people on the beach, and take the rest to the market the next morning.
Packing up the nets.

Beau Vallon Regatta

Today was the Beau Vallon Regatta, which didn't seem to have anything to do with boats, but was an excuse for a big party. Loads of people, music, booze, food and competitions.
This is the greasy pole event at the Regatta. There is a big money prize for any group or individual who can climb to the top of this very greasy pole. Nobody won the prize.

Playing with Korry

Lisa spent most of the day playing with Korry. Korry lives in one of the houses nearby and also goes to the International School. Lisa calls her 'that girl who is ten'.

Also, today was my last day in the employ of Havant College!

Our new Jeep

Big news today...we bought a car. It's a Suzuki Jeep Samurai. It's great for getting up the big hill to our house, and bumping along Seychelles roads. We celebrated with a trip to the beach.
